AVL is the world's largest independent company for development of powertrains (combustion engines, hybrid systems, electric drive) as well as simulation and test systems for passenger cars, trucks and marine engines.

      We offer a master thesis:

Full vehicle durability of vehicle suspension components due to random vibration

Virtual durability testing using CAE methods is one of many challenges posed in front of vehicle manufacturers. Damages in Vehicle components need long testing times and a vehicle. Computer simulations are given a key role in product development to optimize the parts in advance.
This thesis has been initiated as a preliminary step towards implementing a fast method for durability of the car suspension parts. Dynamic virtual durability testing in the development. A virtual model of the passenger car has been created in multi-body simulation software package MSC.ADAMS(R). The target of the thesis is to analyze create equivalent damage in component test compared to vehicle real situation.

      Task:

      • Literature study
      • Vehicle Multibody dynamic model built up with flexible parts
      • Study different type of excitation, random and transient
      • Evaluation of the durability
      • Durability evaluation

      Study:

      • Mechanical engineering, Technical physics

      Requirements:

      • Experience in FEM and durability is appreciated
      • Language: English or German

Remuneration: The successful completion of the thesis is a one-time fee of EUR 2.500, - gross remuneration
