      The respective Business Unit of our client consists of several production sites (paper mills) in Europe, Russia and the US and is seeking for the new Head of Technology supporting the plants world-wide in their technology development.

      Head of Technology - Pulp & Paper

      Location: Preferred Vienna (or one of the international plants)

      Your future role:

      The Head of Technology acts as the technical focal point regarding all technical aspect for pulp and paper processes and builds up a well-functioning network to all nine plants in the world. The scope of work covers the responsibility for the coordination and the development of the pulp and paper technology in all international plants. The function reports directly to the Operations Director of the Business Unit.

      The position holder manages the market-oriented and innovation-related development of this business unit and is also entrusted with the monitoring and supervision of the technology projects in-time and on-budget. The Head of Technology initiates the research and identification for innovations as well as for the new processes and methods. In addition the holder of this position also gives technical guidance by directly managing trouble shooting projects on underperforming lines in the plants.

      Starting from a continuous technology and trend scouting the Head of Technology provides important impulses in realising technological innovations. For this purpose the incumbent is in close contact with the leading research institutes and centers in the world.
      Another important aspect in the field of duties are the development and implementation of control procedures to achieve business objectives; e.g. strategy for a common technology roadmap, synchronization of project reviews etc.

      Job requirements:

      Functional The position holder has acquired a Master's degree in a scientific, technical or engineering discipline, preferred chemical engineering / pulp & paper.

      His/her career track shows a minimum of 7 years of process optimization experience in pulp and papermills, including a comprehensive experience of leading industrial projects and expert teams in a matrix organization.

      Acting in a comparable industrial environment the incumbent has successfully shown his ability to deal with product and technology-related topics. Ideal candidates also bring along proven experience with six sigma and continuous improvement projects as well as excellent MS Office skills.

      An excellent command of English and German is required. Skills in a third language would be a plus.

      The future position holder should be a hands-on person, creative with a solution oriented attitude but also open and capable to do detailed work.

      Furthermore you have a very high willingness to travel for your international projects and the collaboration with the various plants in the world.
