      Senior Test and Qualification Engineer for Additive Manufacturing (m/f)

      We are looking for a Senior Test and Qualification Engineer for Additive Manufacturing (m/f) based in Munich (Germany). This incumbent will be a key member of the core Additive Manufacturing team in Oerlikon's Additive Manufacturing Competency Center which focuses exclusively on metal additive manufacturing using powder bed processes. This role is responsible for providing technical expertise on a variety of projects and programs and may act as a key test and qualification advisor for global AM management.

      Responsibilities

      This position will work in an R&D environment with focus on large test and qualification programs for Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Automotive and Medical markets.

      • Analyze, define and prove operational and business processes
      • The individual will define the qualification test programs of Additive Manufacturing components to achieve the customers technical requirements and specifications
      • Support the designers and R&D team regarding mechanical performance requirements for design engineering
      • Create a pipeline of research topics, and proposals for: Mechanical testing methods (including F&DT), Defects analysis, Non Destructive Evaluation, New processes and material qualification
      • Generate and analyze data relevant to Additive Manufacturing Process performance improvements, such as Key Materials allowables and Key Process allowables
      • Conduct process and parts failure analysis
      • Conduct the definition of the technical specifications according internal, external and international standard and procedures
      • Maintain close relationships with Oerlikon's production facilities and external partners from leading Universities, Research Institutes and Industrial Partners

      We expect

      • PhD or MSc in relevant field, preferably in developing material & processes, material testing & failure analysis
      • First degree in material science or engineering
      • 10 years of work experience in AM related research and technology development, preferably industry based
      • Strong experience in material and processes, material testing, failure analysis and NDT
      • Background in additive manufacturing, welding, investment casting or forging preferred
      • Hands-on laboratory testing experience of metallic materials for static and data tolerance evaluation
      • Knowledge of Nondestructive Evaluation methods (X-Ray/CT scanning would be a benefit)
      • Experience in supporting the qualification programs to achieve Certification in relevant sectors, preferably aerospace
      • Experience in DoE as well as FMEA would be beneficial
      • Excellent knowledge of English language
