      UBIMET has its headquarters in Vienna, Austria and ranks among the leading weather service providers in Europe. International experts in the fields of meteorology, physics, biology and geography issue customized, individual and precise weather forecasts for several million private and industrial customers in numerous countries. The company founders and the shareholder (Red Bull) pursue the goal to be the weather service with the world's best quality forecasts. In order to deal with a rapidly growing number of potential clients, we are looking for highly skilled, exceptional people to join our team in Vienna as:

      Assistant Model Developer
      (part-time or full time)

      In accordance with UBIMET's global expansion strategy, our model developers deal with a wide variety of climatological conditions. Therefore, we are looking for motivated team members who will work with us to adapt our weather models to produce accurate forecasts in various countries and meteorological situations.

      Your main responsibilities are:

      • Operation, monitoring and tuning of numerical weather prediction models
      • Management of data inputs
      • Implementation of defined case studies
      • Data conversion and visualization
      • Appliance of a verification framework

      We are looking for analytical and enthusiastic personalities with:

      • A completed Bachelors degree in Meteorology, Physics, Geophysics, Geography, Mathematics, Chemistry, Informatics or a related field (or in the final stages)
      • Basic understanding of the following subjects:
      • Fluid dynamics (numerics, dynamics, physics)
      • Programming skills in Fortran is a must
      • MatLab, R, PERL and Python are a plus
      • Experience with Linux as a working environment (development and deployment)
      • Excellent German and English skills
      • Experience with meteorological forecasting models is a plus but not necessarily required
      • A goal-oriented and result driven approach
      • A proactive, independent and organized way of working

      We are legally obliged to state the minimum salary. The minimum salary in the collective agreement is EUR 1.830,09 gross per month for a full-time position. Of course we are willing to pay the market-rate salary depending on your qualifications and professional background.
