The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Lung Vascular Research in Graz, Austria, focusses on delineating molecular pathways leading to lung vascular diseases associated with chronic lung disorders by combining a broad range of molecular biological methods on diseased human samples and preclinical animal models (https://lvr.lbg.ac.at).
A POSTDOC research opportunity is available immediately (maximum of 2.5 years) to explore the mechanisms of metabolic alterations in chronic lung diseases within the institutes research program. Candidates with research experience in one or more of these fields: vascular biology, metabolomics, autophagy, cell death, inflammation and desired to get involved in translational research are encouraged to apply. The researcher is expected to work independently, to take responsibility of the execution, organization, and development of the research project, to generate and document experimental results, and to report project progresses to the team leader regularly. The person will collaborate with PhD students and technicians to increase the impact of the research efforts and work in a stimulating, interdisciplinary environment (molecular medicine, clinical sciences and health economics). The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Lung Vascular Research is located at the Medical University of Graz.
Desired Skills and Experience
- PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Molecular Biomedicine, or related sciences
- Track record in cell signaling and metabolism using the techniques in molecular/cellular biology and biochemistry
- Experience with patient derived cultures (3D cell culture/organoids) is a plus
- Working with preclinical animal models is a plus
Key personal characteristics
- The applicant should be highly motivated and passionate about driving and performing research and associated laboratory tasks and able to work independently in a transdisciplinary research team
- Good skills in English in writing, communication and collaboration within the Institute and other units of the Medical University of Graz
